Sizing Guide

Find the Right Size, the First Time

Combat sports gear that fits properly works better and lasts longer. This guide covers every Prosidz product — boxing gloves, MMA gear, protective equipment, and apparel.

🥊 Boxing Gloves — Weight by Body Weight

Boxing glove sizing is measured in ounces (oz), which refers to the weight of the glove, not the size of your hand. Heavier gloves have more padding — better for protection during sparring, lighter for speed work and competition.

Body Weight Bag & Pad Work Training Sparring
Under 45 kg / 100 lbs8 oz10 oz12 oz
45–60 kg / 100–135 lbs10 oz12 oz14 oz
60–75 kg / 135–165 lbs12 oz14 oz16 oz
75–90 kg / 165–200 lbs14 oz16 oz16 oz
Over 90 kg / 200 lbs16 oz16 oz18 oz

Rule of thumb: If you’re between two sizes, go up. Heavier gloves give your hands more protection and build punching endurance — a 16 oz glove gets easier with use, a 12 oz glove that doesn’t fit never will.

Competition Glove Weights

Competition gloves follow regulated weights set by sanctioning bodies:

🥋 MMA Gloves — Hand Circumference

MMA gloves are sized by hand circumference, not weight. Measure around the widest part of your palm (just below the knuckles, excluding the thumb) for the most accurate fit.

Size Hand Circumference Best For
Small (S)17–19 cm / 6.5–7.5″Women, smaller hands
Medium (M)19–21 cm / 7.5–8″Most adult men, average hands
Large (L)21–23 cm / 8–9″Larger hands
X-Large (XL)23+ cm / 9″+Heavyweight competitors

🦵 Shin Guards — Height & Weight

Shin guards are sized by your height and weight. The guard should cover from just below the knee to the top of the instep, with no gap above the ankle.

SizeHeightWeight
X-SmallUnder 152 cm / 5’0″Under 45 kg / 100 lbs
Small152–168 cm / 5’0″–5’6″45–60 kg / 100–135 lbs
Medium168–178 cm / 5’6″–5’10”60–75 kg / 135–165 lbs
Large178–188 cm / 5’10″–6’2″75–90 kg / 165–200 lbs
X-Large188+ cm / 6’2″+90+ kg / 200+ lbs

Fit check: When standing, the shin pad’s top edge should sit 1–2 cm below your kneecap and the bottom should fully cover the top of your foot. Too small and your shin is exposed; too big and the guard rotates during kicks.

🪖 Headgear — Head Circumference

Measure the circumference of your head about 2 cm (1 inch) above your eyebrows and ears — the widest point of your skull.

SizeHead Circumference
Small (S)52–55 cm / 20.5–21.5″
Medium (M)55–58 cm / 21.5–22.8″
Large (L)58–61 cm / 22.8–24″
X-Large (XL)61+ cm / 24″+

If you wear hand wraps under headgear: No, you don’t. But if you train with a thick beanie or long hair, size up to accommodate.

🩹 Hand Wraps — Length by Wrist & Hand

Hand wraps come in fixed lengths. Longer wraps provide more wrist support and knuckle padding but take longer to put on.

LengthBest For
108″ / 2.75 mKids and very small hands
120″ / 3 mWomen, smaller hands
180″ / 4.5 mMost adult men — standard
200″+ / 5+ mLarger hands, more wrist support

👕 Hoodies & T-Shirts — Chest & Body

Measurements are flat-laid garment dimensions (not body measurements). For body-to-garment conversion, allow 4–6 cm ease for fitted styles, 8–12 cm for regular fit, and 14+ cm for oversized.

📏 How to Measure Yourself

You need three things: a soft measuring tape (not a metal one), a mirror, and ideally a friend. Wear thin clothes — measuring over a hoodie adds 2–3 cm of error.

1 Chest

Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the armpits. Keep the tape level and parallel to the ground. Breathe normally — don’t expand your chest.

2 Waist

Measure around your natural waist — the narrowest part, usually about 2 cm above the belly button. Don’t pull the tape tight.

3 Hip

Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, keeping the tape level. Feet should be together.

4 Inseam

From the top of your inner thigh to the floor, with shoes off. Easiest done by measuring a well-fitting pair of trousers you already own.

5 Head

Measure around your head about 2 cm above the eyebrows and ears — the widest point of your skull. Used for headgear sizing.

6 Hand Circumference

Wrap the tape around the widest part of your palm, just below the knuckles, with the thumb relaxed and out of the measurement. Used for MMA gloves.
